Forget hot. Even original bonus features can't make this DVD lukewarm. The only reprieve from the pain in "The Hottie & the Nottie" is when the film is being blandly unremarkable. Curiosity and boredom will lead to rentals, but even the lackluster special features don't make this film worth the alternatingly excruciating and mind-numbing time spent watching it. This might be a good substitute for self-flagellation.

If you couldn't commit to a date with "27 Dresses" on the big screen or admit to your friends you wanted to see Katherine Heigl prance around in candy-colored gowns, then the DVD release, accessorized with a few amusing bonus features, is a fun, if innocuous night at home.

"Cloverfield" tried to be many things: an American iconic monster; an examination of our increasingly video-oriented culture; an allegory for the 9/11 attacks. To its credit, the movie succeeded at being an above-average monster flick that truly does reflect the insta-video way of life. As a monster, Clover (the designers' name for it) never has quite the personality of a Godzilla or King Kong. More, the film was hindered by overblown comparisons to "The Blair Witch Project," specifically regarding the shaky visuals' effects on intestinal fortitude.

Oscar-winning hit arrives on DVD with deleted scenes, screen tests, gag reel and a commentary track Not quite as good as that best picture Oscar nomination would have you believe, but entirely undeserving of its harsh backlash, "Juno" retains all of its tart, foul-mouthed tone on DVD, where it's ready to take its place in the 2007 Accidental Pregnancy Film Festival alongside the differently charming, but no less romantic and funny, "Waitress" and "Knocked Up."

Many critics called the movie a masterpiece, but the extras will leave fans craving more For many critics (and a few casual viewers), Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood" was an epic deconstruction of American competitiveness, greed and obsession, a film with aspirations of near-Biblical grandeur. For others, probably more people than actually saw the movie, "There Will Be Blood" was that movie where Daniel Day-Lewis expressed his desire to drink your milkshake, to drink it up, and explained the geological principles of draaaaaaaaaaainage.

DVD viewing helps clarify inscrutable show's meaning, but not by much HBO has made a lot of great series, and some grandly ambitious ones that ended up being not so great. What it hasn't consistently done, though, is release strong DVD compilations of its series.

Check out the black-and-white version of the Stephen King adaptation on the second disc Not to quibble, but given that Frank Darabont's "The Mist" was a box office disappointment and generated mixed reviews, was there a great clamoring for a two-disc "Collector's Edition" DVD? Are there aficionados out there going "You know, my collection is nearly full and I guess a one-disc version of 'The Mist' would be fine, but what I really need is two"?

Peppy, colorful extras add to the already charming film "Enchanted" on DVD will sell itself thanks to Amy Adams' completely charming portrayal of Gisele -- a nice addition to the Disney princess line -- and the fact that the movie actually lives up to the claim that it's a new family classic. A handful of colorful, yet restrained bonus features just sweeten the admittedly saccharine plot.

The bonus features are minimal but it's still one of the Coen Brothers' finest An unusual thing happened at the Oscars this year. The Academy, an organization of only occasional wisdom, actually gave its best picture prize to the year's best movie, the Coen Brothers' "No Country For Old Men."
